Shop of the Week - yarncoture.etsy.com

Exquisitely knitted creations take center stage in YarnCoture. The shop is filled with amazing pieces that will have you looking forward to weather cold enough to wear them!

Owner Maryum Karim says, "I try to offer a wide variety of designs to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers. I love to create custom designs as well as OOAK (one-of-a-kind) items in order to provide a personal shopping experience for my customers. Every item is made with great care and will not bear the Yarncoture name until I feel that it's just right. I am constantly educating myself on new knitting and crocheting techniques to improve my craft. "

In addition to scarves, shawls, and fingerless gloves, Maryum also offers vintage inspired designs. "My favorite pieces that I make are my Vintage Inspired Ascot neckties... I just love the simplicity of the design! "

Maryum admits that inspirations for her stylish creations come from everywhere. "I can have a dream about a design and then wake up and create it that same day. On the other hand, a set of beautiful vintage buttons or really funky novelty yarn may inspire me to make something new. A medley of my vintage patterns collection or just a simple knit or crochet pattern coupled with my special touch will sometimes do the trick. It all depends on what mood I'm in!"

A self-taught knitter, Maryum's passion for her craft is another source of inspiration. "there's always a new technique, stitch pattern, a new yarn fiber, or design to try or learn. I love the way the yarn feels as it glides off my knitting needles or how quickly I can crochet a beautiful flower. I also love the fact that I have been teaching my 2 daughters to knit and crochet, and have even featured some of their finished pieces in my shop! Being able to pass these ancient crafts down to my daughers has truly been a joy! "

Maryum admits that its sometimes difficult to balance all the areas of her busy life, so her favorite twitter trick is using her shop Facebook Page to update twitter as well. " I love to tweet, however lately I have been swamped preparing for an upcoming craft show as well as custom orders. Tweeting through my Facebook fan page saves me a lot of time and enables me to allow my fans as well as fellow "Twitteroos" to sneak a first peek at new items in my shop. I usually tweet about my day and sometimes ask fellow Twitterers about theirs. Watching what others are saying also helps me to get a feel for my audience and what a potential buyer may be looking for. "

YarnCoture offers unique gift ideas for everyone on your gift list, including great accessories for those hard-to buy-for men on your list, and ships both domestic and international.

Free standard worldwide shipping for every item in my shop. This special offer will be available through December. Priority Mail and Express mail services will be available for an additional charge.

Back in 2001, and right after September 11th, I made a life changing decision. On that day, I was sitting in a high rise building in downtown Los Angeles when the news came. Of course, we evacuated, and on the long drive home I had plenty of time to think, specifically about how valuable my family was to me, how sad I was for those who were lost, and what choices I had made for my life. I gave up my 20 plus year career in construction, to pursue my passion for art. All my life I had toyed with pen and ink...and I suppose charcoal as well, but I had always envisioned painting glass, wine glasses specifically, so I figured....why not go with the fantasy. And here I am.

Here's my take on it......Glass painting explores a unique and profound paradox in art. By painting glass, I want the viewer to look at the shadow of the art as well as the art itself. Glass art is unique in that the shadow contains and expresses the composition and color of the art, a reflection, if you will, as well as a shadow. Trying to find where the shadow begins and where the reflection ends leads to the wonderfully infinite paradox that is glass art.

I've always been creative and really enjoy what I do. I try to make items that strike a familiar chord in people, but with a new twist - something that looks classical, but with a modern twist - new materials, and with bling - something that's never been done before. I've never really seen any of my handbags anywhere else, and I truly take pride in my one-of-a-kind items. I do the same with my jewelry - trying not to copy anything in particular, but getting my inspiration from what's already been done and going off in a different direction with new approaches to make everything special and unique. Regardless of what I make, I strive to use the very best quality materials, and use my best workmanship skills in achieving the finished product.

Because I love each and every one of my creations, it's really hard to select just one that I like the best. If I had to choose, it would be these earrings - basic, elegant, stately, classical, and beautiful all at the same time - much like a Japanese Geisha...

"When I first learned how to crochet, I fell in love with it. I knew I had to find a way to sell my goods (I mean, one gal can only use so many fashion accessories!), and a friend introduced me to Etsy. I've hooked ever since (pun completely intended).I'm just a plain simple Southern gal, who loves animals, Celtic music, God, and my family. I try to let those things inspire my creations. You will definitely find green in my shop, which is inspired by my love of all things Irish. And you will find my Soggy Sardine cat toys, which comes from my love for animals:http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22301360Those toys are my best sellers, and one of my favorite items to make. They have so much personality! So I will just keep plugging along, trying to sell my wares, and enjoying life. Here is the link to my Etsy store:http://www.anastasia91.etsy.com/.

I have been "crafting" for over 15 years now. I tend to be a perfectionist and that definitely falls into my work, which sometimes makes an easy project take a little longer. I am VERY picky about what I sell, although no 2 things you purchase from my shop will be exactly alike. My favorite craft has become crocheting. I also make jewelry (all kinds) but especially enjoy creating my own hemp sets, I like to cross stitch as well, how ever as I get older my eyes don't seem to want to cooperate as much as they used to, I am learning to sew, and pretty much I am open to learning any new craft.I am a stay at home mom, I have 2 wonderful children, my little girl is almost 3 and my son is almost 10, and I have the world’s GREATEST husband. I decided to open this store as a way to earn a little extra income while the economy is not so great and I have always wanted to market my stuff but never was sure just quite how to do so until I found Etsy.I absolutely love making my own creations, I also use patterns. I am more than willing to make anything a custom order just for you. Anything in my store can be customized to fit your needs, whether you want a different color, or a different style of bead, or just need a different size, or anything you want really.I hope you enjoy looking at my items, please know that everything here is created with great amounts of love and pride. Not 1 of my items will be sold if there wasn't 110% of perfection, and love involved with its creation. Please check back often as I will be adding new things daily. As ALWAYS thanx for stopping by.
